Born and raised in Whitesburg, KY, Chef Jared Richardson gets his inspiration for making great food from his family  “I knew at a very young age that food was my passion, something I learned from my mother Josephine, owner/chef of the Courthouse Café in Whitesburg, KY.  My favorite memory is when I was a young child, standing on a stool in the kitchen helping my mother make homemade red sauce for our pasta dinners.  Being born into a family of chefs is very intimidating.  I knew the bar was set pretty high after watching my mother and grandmother make homemade pastas and sauces for our traditional Italian family dinners.”

Chef Jared came to Capital Plaza in August of 2011 and brings years of experience to this Frankfort landmark, getting his start at Emmett’s restaurant in Lexington, KY.  Chef Jared was also involved as a partner in the opening of Wallace Station in Midway, KY., where many of his signature dishes remain on the menu.   “My signature style of cooking is Southern and Italian…by combining my Italian heritage with my southern roots; I feel I can make simple, everyday dishes a totally different experience for the customer.”  Chef Jared incorporates Kentucky Proud products into each dish, ensuring and enjoyable, customized dish for each patron.  Chef Jared graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY.  Chef Jared, has been awarded several awards, including:  Wild Game Dinner, Heard it Through the Grapevine, Taste of the Bluegrass, and Kentucky State Fair…Cast Iron Cook-Off.

Some of Chef Jared’s favorite dishes range from Shrimp and Grits, his award-winning Cubano Sandwich to his mother’s famous Tanglewood Pie.
